At Busselton Egg Company, we’re committed to providing top-notch living conditions for our hens, using sustainable farming techniques, so they are happy and healthy egg layers. 

Each week we sell eggs to cafes, restaurants, wholesalers, local shops and even at the Busselton and Bunbury markets.

Our Philosophy

Ethical practices and a commitment to sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we stick to non-invasive farming techniques that create a harmonious environment where  our hens can thrive.

We consider the impact of everything we do on the land and our animals, and ensure we are giving back more than we’re taking.

Our Farm

Nestled on the outskirts of Busselton, Western Australia, our farm is home to over 15,000 hens with more on the way.

Spanning 33 hectares, it’s a picturesque pocket where our hens can roam freely—enabling them to produce the highest quality pasture-raised eggs.

Our Hens

The welfare of our hens informs all of our practices here at the farm. From their sleeping arrangements, to the food they eat, we work hard to give them the very best.

We have 15,000 hens calling our farm home, and they get to roam around our fields every single day, foraging for grasses, worms and insects in our pastures. They’re fed a natural mix of grains so they feel their best and can produce the best eggs.

Why Free Range?

It’s our commitment to you that when you buy Busselton Egg Company eggs, you’re buying free-range produce that has been raised with care on our farm, by our farmer. With much of the industry claiming 10,000 hens per hectare is free range, we only have 1,500 per hectare leaving plenty of space for our hens to laze the day away.

Our chickens have the freedom to roam outdoors, rather than being cooped up in cages – having access to fields and wide-open spaces, as well as access to purpose-built chicken shelters when they need it. This gives them the opportunity to interact socially with their counterparts, develop better bone strength, and practise natural behaviours like nesting, foraging for food, perching and dust bathing.

In addition, all of our chickens are raised without added hormones or growth stimulants resulting in healthier chickens and more delicious, nutrient-dense eggs.

Our dedication to our hens and free range farming results in happier and healthier hens producing quality eggs. Busselton’s and Harvey’s free range eggs are available in dozen and half dozen cartons of extra-large delicious and nutritional eggs without added hormones and growth stimulants.
